Papa and I took a trip south to visit Jennifer and Danielle and my longest friend and Oregon roommate, Cathie, who bought a home in La Quinta last year.

While staying with Jennifer and Danielle, we took the ferry over to Catalina Island, something Jennifer and I had talked about doing when I was in LA last time. It was a fun trip and we even let Jennifer drive the rented golf cart!

The round building you see in the background is called "The Casino." It got Papa very excited, but it turned out it was a movie theater and dance hall.

It was a beautiful day and the scenery was spectacular! We will definitely go back someday.

When riding on the ferry, it is very much like taking a plane ride. They serve drinks and snacks (if you pay the extra fee to sit in the Commodore Lounge!!) You even have little trays that pop down or you can sit at a stationary table and play cards.

Jennifer got a Wii for Christmas and entertained us with boxing, tennis, baseball, bowling, and our favorite, guitar hero. It is quite a workout if you don't sit in a chair!

This is the golf course we played while in La Quinta. Our friends, the Lundeens, live on the 8th hole and have a lovely home. They were excellent hosts! We got to go to the Bob Hope Classic Golf Tournament (saw Arnold Palmer, Kurt Russell, and Huey Lewis!), the Saturday Market, and sample some fantastic restaurants!

Papa played an outstanding round of golf! A lay-off can do wonders!

Amy Anderson, a long time friend of Amy's, gave her a baby shower to celebrate Max's arrival. Adi got to come with us and the boys (Colin, Dad, and Papa) went to the driving range to do manly stuff.

Adi holding her little brother. She sure likes to play the mom!
